Man charged with multiple offences after reported break-ins at schools, houses and businesses

A man from the Monsall area of Manchester has been charged with 14 offences after several reported recent break-ins at a number of premises, including houses, businesses and schools in north Manchester.

Mason McCann (aged 25), of Swanley Avenue, has been charged with three counts of trespassing with intent to steal; three counts of attempting to trespass with intent to steal; seven counts of theft; one count of causing racially aggravated harassment, harm or distress.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear today (Friday) at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court.

The charges relate to a number of incidents reported to police between Sunday, March 28 and Tuesday, April 13, 2021 - including items being taken from two primary schools in Moston and Harpurhey.

An investigation was launched by the local Harpurhey neighbourhood team, who arrested McCann yesterday (Thursday) and subsequently had charges authorised for 14 offences.
