Heartless vandals have damaged a new polytunnel in Royton Park just days after it was put in place.
An Oldham Council social media post read this morning (Tuesday): "It’s part of the new growing hub for residents to use to grow their own fruit and veg.
"We’ll now look to repair the damage with funds that could have been used on other improvement projects."
Local residents have reacted with dismay to the news of the vandalism.
One wrote on Twitter: "Horrid to see this, so mindless."
Another wrote: "Horrible, but also highlights the problem of further reducing youth funding.
"While cutting funding to organisations like Mahdlo might save us the taxpayer money in the short term, long term it will cost us far more."
One resident wrote on the Council Facebook page: "Mindless yobs. Can't have anything these days."
