LipService return for a hilarious online haunted house thriller

Date published: 05 May 2021

Award-winning theatre company LipService return as part of Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s Summer Season this weekend with Château Ghoul - a multimedia haunted house thriller set in East Yorkshire’s go-to boutique hotel.

Famed for its themed weekends, hosts Brian and Brenda Binns - or B&B as they are known - will introduce audiences to a cornucopia of weird and wonderful events: their supernatural sensation – Psychic Attraction, (like Fatal Attraction but without the rabbit), their Upcycling weekend, (not to be confused with the Tour de Yorkshire Lycra Festival), and the ever popular 1970’s Shanga Langa Waddy Ding Dong experience.

Château Ghoul is guaranteed fun for all the family, even if the guests do keep dying.

Audiences can get into the spirit of all things comically ghoulish and prepare for a tour unlike any before.

LipService are a multi award-winning company that create original comedy shows from a distinctly female perspective.

Described as “The Laurel and Hardy of literary deconstruction” by The Independent, comedy duo Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding have been writing and performing since 1985 and have developed 22 original works.

As well as their work on the stage, they had their own series on Radio 4 - nominated for a Writer’s Guild Award - and have twice won the Critics’ Award for Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival.

LipService have toured nationally and internationally, with a reputation for their high quality and idiosyncratic comic take on popular culture.

Château Ghoul is an online production delivered over Zoom, offering people the chance to get involved without having to physically leave their homes.

It runs online on Saturday (May 8).

Tickets are available from the Coliseum website.
