A 34-year-old man was sentenced to 21 weeks in jail after being charged with three offences after a stolen car was discovered in Chadderton last week.

Initially, officers from the Chadderton neighbourhood team located a stolen vehicle, which had been stolen without keys on June 2, from north Chadderton.

At that time a male was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of an offensive weapon.

The vehicle was returned to the owner.

Updates on the GMP Chadderton Facebook page read: "Kamran Ali (aged 34), of no fixed abode, has been charged with handling stolen goods, theft from a motor vehicle and failing to comply with a court order.

"He has now been sentenced to 21 weeks in prison."
