The Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Jenny Harrison, gratefully received a cheque for £150 from Rose Knipe, the Community Champion at Tesco in Failsworth, towards the Mayor's Charity Appeal.

Rose and her fellow volunteers staged a sale outside the store, and later, Cllr Shaid Mushtaq and the Mayor went to accept the £150 cheque.

"We'd like to thank Rose for the donation and for all she does supporting many community voluntary groups," said the Mayor, Cllr Harrison.

Meanwhile, Cllrs Harrison and Mushtaq also spent a 'very enjoyable' hour at the Yew Tree Youth Club in Chadderton with Full Circle CIC.

They staged a 'Big Get Together' in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.

Mayor Cllr Harrison said: "It gave us the opportunity to thank leader Becci, her staff and volunteers, for the great work they do with young people.

"During the lockdowns, they've gone above and beyond to support local youngsters."
