There ain't no mountain high enough for kind-hearted Italia

Warm-hearted 13-year-old Italia Wallbank took to the mountains last weekend, and so far has raised almost £800 for Oldham-based charity Action Together.

Italia, a pupil at John Henry Newman College in Chadderton, climbed Mount Snowdon in memory of her nana, who passed away last year due to coronavirus.

Italia's proud mum Rachel said: "Italia climbed Mount Snowdon for her nana and all the families who have been affected by coronavirus, especially families within Oldham as this is the place we live."

On her GoFundMe page, Italia added: "Everybody’s lives have been affected by this dreadful virus in one way or another, and many people have lost loved ones and experienced the most challenging times in their lives.

"Thats why I decided to raise money for a charity called ‘Action Together’ who are based in Greater Manchester and provide an emergency response to coronavirus.

"All the money will go to local groups and charities to help them continue to provide vital community support.

"I know that my nana would be very proud of me for raising money for such a good cause, and that is what gave me the commitment to complete this challenge."

So far Italia has raised £795 after setting an initial target of £500.

Action Together has worked with numerous community groups and foodbanks to make sure that collectively, they can cope with the surge in demand for local help due to the pandemic.
