Investigation ongoing after man's body is discovered in Hathershaw

A police investigation is continuing following the discovery of a man's body in bushes close to Howgill Crescent in Hathershaw this morning (Friday).
It is believed the man was found in shrubbery close to the junction of Howsgill Crescent and Hollins Road in the Hathershaw area at approximately 7.30am today.
A council worker who had been picking litter around the bushes, is reported to have made the grim discovery.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 8.03am this morning (July 2) police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man found near to the roundabout on Howgill Crescent, Oldham.
"Officers attended and sadly located the body of a man.
"A police cordon is in place and enquiries are ongoing."
An investigation team erected a tent round the dead man earlier.
He is believed to have been in his 50s.
