Police appeal for information after man dies following road collision

A man has died following a collision in Droylsden over the weekend.

A short time after 1:30am on Saturday (August 7), police were called to a report of a collision on Edge Lane.

Emergency services attended and established a Yamaha motorbike had collided with a Polo VW car.

Two men, aged 22 and 23, sustained serious injuries and both were taken to hospital.

The 22-year-old man remains in a stable condition, however the 23-year-old man has since died from his injuries, despite the best work of hospital staff.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Sergeant Neil Pennington of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.

"Our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly distressing time and we wish a full recovery for the 22-year-old who is still in hospital.

"This collision happened in a residential area, so we are hopeful that people will have witnessed the collision and may have dash cam footage or CCTV footage of the incident.

"If you have any information at all about this collision please contact police as soon as possible."
