The family of a man who died in Droylsden have paid tribute to him, as an enquiry into his murder continues.
Police were called at 1.10am on Friday (August 6) to Redesmere Close, to a report of a stabbing.
Emergency services attended and enquiries established a 47-year-old man had been stabbed inside a property.
He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead a short while later.
He has since been named as Ian Bent.
Dean Farrell (aged 21) of Redesmere Close, Droylsden, has been charged with murder.
He appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on Saturday (August 7).
He was remanded in custody pending his next appearance at Manchester Crown Court.
Paying tribute to Ian, his family said: "Our loving father, Ian, was our everything and more.
"He was a friend to many and loved by all.
"He would have always gone above and beyond to put a smile on anyone's face.
"He was a brother, a father, a grandad and truly loyal friend.
"He had the biggest heart and made everyone happy who was around him.
"He was loved dearly and taken far too soon.
"We as a family, and close friends, are beyond heartbroken with his loss, and it will forever change our lives."
