Young people across Oldham and the North West, can benefit from the ‘Grab a Jab’ initiative and get vaccinated whilst enjoying the bank holiday weekend.
A new Pop-up site is opening in Oldham tomorrow, Saturday 28 August, outside Primark, in the town centre.
It makes it easier than ever, for young people, including those aged 16 and 17 who became eligible for the vaccine earlier this month, to get vaccinated around their social commitments.
The COVID-19 vaccine is hailed as the best protection from getting the virus, passing it on to others and becoming seriously ill.
Teenagers have been getting vaccinated at pop up clinics around the region throughout the week, including 17 year old Krish Chundawat who had his jab at Whalley Range High School.
He said: “I’ve had my vaccine so now I can meet my family and feel safe. There is really no reason not to take the vaccine because there will be less cases and less people dying. I hope you get yours.”
Dr Linda Charles-Ozuzu, Regional Director of Commissioning (North West), said: “Our walk-in vaccination sites are an easy way to get the life-saving jab and help us get back to life before Covid.
"Whether you’re heading to a festival or going shopping with friends, grab a jab at your nearest site this bank holiday to make sure you’re protected from COVID-19.”
“It’s never too late to get vaccinated, so if it’s been a while since you were first invited, you can still head down to a local site or book an appointment online.”
Five million people in the North West have now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, part of the 40 million people vaccinated in England. Over 9.4 million vaccinations have now been given across the North West.
