Injured woman rescued after Birchen Clough fall

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were called by North West Ambulance Service to assist with an injured female walker who sustained a badly injured ankle in a fall at Birchen Clough near Dovestones on Friday.
Shortly after arriving at the scene they were joined by a team of expert doctors who arrived by North West Air Ambulance Charity helicopter.
The woman, accompanied by a partner, sustained a badly injured ankle.

After pain relief was administered, the woman’s ankle was placed in a splint and she was stretchered the short carry to OMRT’s ambulance who carried her down a rough track where she was transferred to a NWAS ambulance for the onward journey to hospital.
Rob Tortoiseshell, OMRT leader, said: "Thanks to the air ambulance and the land ambulance crews this was a good example of multi-agency collaboration.
"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
Twelve OMRT personnel were involved for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
