A man has been charged after a woman was kidnapped and sexually assaulted in Rochdale.

Police were called to John Street in Rochdale on 27 October.
A man is due before court today, Friday 28 October, charged with attempted kidnapping and sexual assault, after an incident in Rochdale.
Alkasur Rahman, who is 41, of Brunswick Street, Rochdale has been charged with:
- Attempt to commit an offence, namely kidnapping, with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence
- Sexual assault by touching
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court today.
Police were called just before 2.30pm on Wednesday 27 October, to a report that members of the public had detained a man that they believed had been attempting to kidnap a woman on John Street in Rochdale.
Officers attended, and established that a stranger had attempted to drag the woman behind a building when members of the public intervened.
