The site is being prepared
Lorries, barriers, and fairground rides have begun to arrive at Oldham Edge for the Big Bang Bonfire which returns this week.
Work began yesterday on the site, which is one of the biggest bonfire and firework displays in Greater Manchester.
The event was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic last year, but returns on Thursday with a funfair, stage entertainment, a huge bonfire, and a spectacular fireworks display.
The entertainment will be hosted on stage by Shaw's Big Al, who will be presenting two amazing performances from Flame Oz, the Electrifying Robots, and one lucky Oldhamer will be pressing the button to begin the awesome fireworks display.
Up to 10,000 have attended previous fireworks displays, with the last Big Bang taking place in 2019.
Free parking will be available on all council-owned town centre car parks and on-street pay and display parking bays from 3pm on the day.
As in previous years, demand for spaces is expected be high so you are advised to use public transport where possible.
There is no spectator parking available at the bonfire site.

You are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear on the night.
