Oldham Sainsbury's evacuated after discovery of suspect package
Date published: 16 November 2021

Customers were asked to move clear of the stores
Sainsbury's and TK Maxx in Oldham town centre have been evacuated following the discovery of a suspect package.
Pictures show a yellow police cordon around both stores following an evacuation of customers.
Police vans closed the Clegg Street at the junction of Emmet Way, to prevent vehicles and pedestrians from entering the car park.
Customers were told to leave the store and stand clear of the car park.
Police confirmed that "as a precaution", both stores were cleared following the discovery of the suspicious item and specialist officers were despatched to assess the situation.
Shortly afterwards, the item was found not to be suspicious. The cordon has now been lifted and both stores are operating normally.
