A yellow weather warning is in place for tomorrow
A yellow weather warning is in place tomorrow as Storm Barra arrives in the UK.
The weather warning is for high winds across the town, with rain and snow across high ground.
Oldham Chronicle weather expert Jon Bayliss (@chadweather) says tomorrow will start dry, but with plenty of rain later in the day, along with strong winds and hill-snow.
Gusts of around 45-50mph are expected tomorrow, with even stronger winds on the coast.
The worst of the storm is expected to be in the west of Ireland but yellow warnings for wind are in place across many parts of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland on Tuesday, with yellow snow warnings cover southern and western Scotland.
Red warnings remain in place for Cork and Kerry in Ireland, with "severe and damaging gusts" of up to 80mph expected.
The RNLI have issued warnings for coastal areas in the UK, asking people to stay "well back from the water's edge" during the storm.
A Yellow weather warning - issued by the Met Office - says we should expect:
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely and some damage to trees possible
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
