Oldham salon nominated for National Hair & Beauty Award.

Date published: 19 January 2022

Local hairdressers Do Or Dye, on Ashton Road, has been nominated for a prestigious UK Hair and Beauty Award.

Salon owner Terri Leanne Daly, who is 30, from Bardsley, says: “We’re over the moon to have been shortlisted.

“We have a massive passion for hairdressing here and everyone loves their job, so it’s a big reward.”

Her hairdressing shop has been nominated in the ‘Best Colour Salon’ and ‘Best New Salon’ categories.

Terri has carved herself out a career and a loyal following, since she stared at the salon when she was 14, on work experience.

She then became an apprentice, when she left school and worked her way up, taking over the lease when she was 26, four years ago.

Do Or Dye has weathered the pandemic fairly well, but Terri admits; “It was tough at times both financially and mentally.”

It’s the first time Terri has entered the salon in the competition and if it wins, they will be presented with an online award, at a ceremony in March.

Even if they don’t succeed this time around, Terri has some ambitious plans to turn Do Or Dye into an academy for students to train in.

She’s even started studying at University, to make her dreams of training others, come true.

There was a strict criteria for shortlisting, with Terri having to send pictures of her work and explain why she thought her salon was head and shoulders above the rest.

“We always want people to go out the door with a smile on their face and want to come back again.”

So far, the reaction to Do Or Dye's award nomination has been overwhelmingly positive, with lots of likes and shares on social media.
