Shaw teenager hopes for success with first single release

Date published: 08 February 2022

A teenager from Shaw says she is 'on top of the world' after her first single release.

Imogen-Paige Flint, 15,  has been performing since she was just 7 years old and is a familiar face in Oldham and Manchester city centre, two of her favourite places to busk.

Her new single, 'Recovery' was recorded at Taylor Shure 5 Studio in Heyside, Royton, and has particular meaning to Imogen.

"The song is about the time my grandad and nanna passed away in March and June of last year.  Nana used to come watch me perform all over and Grandad always loved listening to me sing.

"Afterwards, I felt heartbroken and it encouraged me to write about the road to recovery."

Imogen cites her proud dad David has one of her strongest influences.  He's the owner and creator of the studio where the single was recorded, and comes from a strong musical background.

"I fell in love with music as my dad was a singer in a local band.  When he performed with his band 'LieAbility' I used to sing Karaoke in one of the rehearsal rooms.

"My dad and [stepmum] Lisa have supported me all the way in my dreams"

Imogen was just 7 years old when she picked up her first guitar. She took lessons, and performed on stage for the first time just a couple of hears later.  She began with a 'little pink guitar' but now owns two acoustic guitars - though, as she's keen to point out - they are not bright pink.

The release of the single is a milestone in her career.

"I'm absolutely over the moon at releasing my own track.  I wrote, played guitar, and sang on my own song which is now out there, where people can listen for free or even purchase it.

"My very own creation at 15 makes me feel on top of the world, and hopefully will inspire me to write and record more."

Imogen has now been accepted at the BIMM Institute in Manchester, where she hopes to develop her skills and accelerate her aspiration to become a professional singer songwriter and perform around the world.
