Storm Dudley and Eunice are on their way
The Met Office have issued a warning about severe weather, expected across much of the region, from Wednesday 16 February, through to the weekend.
Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice are expected to bring impacts from strong winds for much of the UK, with the potential for some snow later in the week across northern England.
Amber and yellow warnings have been issued for both storms.
Storm Dudley will impact the northern half of the UK from Wednesday afternoon, while Storm Eunice will bring strong winds to southern and central areas, as well as some snow for northern areas.
Oldham Chronicle weather expert Jon Baylis told us: "Currently (as of Wednesday) the storm’s track means the strongest winds will affect the south-west and southern parts of England and Wales.
"Storm Eunice is here on Friday and it will be an unsettled day for us with heavy rain followed by wintry showers and some more prolonged rain, sleet and snow later as winds swing north-westerly.
"It will be very windy with severe gale-force gusts likely; 50-55mph. There is a still a chance that the storm tracks even further south into the English Channel, which would result in lower wind speeds but introduce colder air, increasing the snow-risk, so look out for updates on Twitter, at @ChadWeather for the latest forecasts and warnings.
"The maximum temperature will be 7°C."
