The Co-op on Rochdale Road wants to reduce its food waste
A local Co-op is looking for a partner in its mission to cut down on food waste.
The supermarket in Royton wants to donate unsold food at the end of each day to a local cause or charity, as part of the Co-op 'food share scheme'
So far, the scheme has given away over 3 million meals.
Any not-for-profit group, which is committed to collecting the food and using it to feed the local community, is eligible to apply.
They should also be registered as a food premises with the local authority.
A spokesperson for Royton Co-op told the Chronicle: "At Royton Coop we are looking for new food share partners that can benefit from ambient and fresh surplus food that would otherwise need to be wasted.
"Its really important to us that food isn't just thrown away, so any community groups looking for access to food please apply today."
