The dog was rescued from the street in Denshaw
Animal rescue volunteers fear that a dog that was found wondering alone in Denshaw may have been abandoned by its owner.
The dog was discovered cold and shaking in the middle of the road in the village and brought to local animal volunteers to be scanned for a microchip.
Despite appearing healthy and well, the animal was not microchipped and its owners were unable to be contacted.

There was no response from the owners following a Facebook appeal, and the female dog is now in the care of Manchester Dogs Home.
The dog, understood to be no more than two years old, was "a very gentle girl, who wanted lots of fuss" according to rescuers.
There is a worry that the dog may have been abandoned in the village: "It's a real shame, but I know the area is a place to dump dogs", animal volunteer Olivia McGrady told the Chronicle.
The owners now have less than seven days to claim the dog before she will be available for rehoming.
