The 'Taste Ramadan' dinner at the Shahjalal Mosque
People of all faiths attended the Shahjalal Mosque in Manchester, on April 24 2022, to explore and discover a new initiative 'Taste Ramadan'.
In the month in which Muslims across the world fast throughout the day, the aim of opening the doors to the wider community, was to welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds interested in connecting with the community and learning about other cultures.
Local neighbours, church groups, councillors, MPs and police were presented with guided tours around the mosque, given the opportunity to listen to the recitation of the Quran, an understanding of some aspects of Islam followed by questions and answers.
Shadow Justice Minister Afzal Khan MP, Cllr Rabnawaz Akbar and Cllr Ahmed Ali addressed the attendees.
It ended with the breaking of the fast, which was served with some traditional food and some goody bags to take home.
The event proved to be a great success and the organisers had wonderful feedback.
Imam Khairul Huda Khan who hosted the event said: "It gives us great pleasure in seeing individuals coming together of all ages and background working harmoniously with the overall objective to help serve the community.
"Without your help we couldn't have pulled this off.
"More importantly a huge thank you to our guests who took the time to attend and observe the programme that was set out for them. We hope you enjoyed it and we hope to see you again soon."
