Come and enjoy a great family day out at the Saddleworth Summer Show

Date published: 06 June 2022

Plans and preparations are almost complete as organisers and volunteers look forward to staging the latest massively popular Saddleworth Summer Show.

The (now completely sold out) Well-i-fest music festival kicks off the weekend showpiece on Saturday, June 25, before the family favourite Saddleworth Show is back to its usual date of Sunday, June 26 - and this year it promises to be the most fantastic day out ever.

Well-i-hole farm in Greenfield is again the venue for the music festival on the Friday.

Doors open at 1pm, there's a DJ set from 2pm, then the live music kicks off in earnest at 3pm and goes on until 9.30pm.

This year's headliners are ace Ska and 2-Tone tribute act Manchester Ska Foundation, while also featuring are the likes of Fuzzy Duck, Hoi Polloi, the Replicants, Foo Fighterz, Spark, and more.

However, as stated earlier, no tickets remain for that event.

The Saddleworth Show itself then takes centre stage the day after, between 10am and 5pm.

New for this year will be the Dinosaur Invasion, when both kids and adults can get up close to massive dinosaurs and their babies.

There is the return of the popular Dog Show, running all afternoon in the main arena, featuring Dog Agility sessions in which you are invited to bring your dog along and take part.

Also in the arena during the morning, Jubicana will be entertaining the visitors featuring the excitement of Brazilian drumming, dancing demonstrations and workshops.

New this year on the main stage is the Youth Music Showcase featuring a wealth of young talent from across the Borough.

All this plus the popular Country Corner featuring local artisans, Magic and Punch and Judy Shows, Sandart workshops, Giant FootDarts and Giant Buzz wire, Pony Rides, Fairground, Charity Stalls and stalls featuring ECO organisations.

The Saddleworth Show and Well-i-Fest concert are organised jointly by the Rotary Club of Saddleworth and The Rotary Club of Oldham Metro, part of Rotary International – the largest service club in the world.

The main purpose is to provide an enjoyable weekends entertainment, but there is a more serious purpose. First, it provides a showcase for local businesses, craft producers, artists and charities as well as bringing a significant number of visitors into the area benefiting local shops.

Secondly, for the Rotary Clubs, it’s purpose is to raise funds to be dispersed among deserving charities and community projects both local, national or international, all of the profits made by the event are used this way with no administrative costs charged by Rotary club members.

If you think you could help or would like more information on this event or others the Rotary Clubs organise, or if you are interested in joining one of the clubs, please ask one of the members at the event for more details.
