Man dies and another seriously injured after early morning collision

Police were called shortly before 2.50am this morning to a report of a collision between a blue Range Rover and a telephone mast on Hyde Road in Gorton
Officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man lost his life with two other men currently receiving treatment in hospital following a collision in east Manchester.
Police were called shortly before 2.50am this morning (Tuesday) to a report of a collision between a blue Range Rover and a telephone mast on Hyde Road in Gorton - near the junction of Debdale Lane heading away from the city centre.
Despite the best attempts of attending officers and paramedics, one occupant – a 23-year-old man believed to be the front seat passenger - was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Specialist officers have been deployed to support his family at this devastating time.
A man – thought to be the driver – is in hospital for treatment to serious but not life-threatening injuries, and a second passenger suffered minor injuries.
Both remain at hospital.
Current enquiries have suggested that a grey Audi A3 may also have been involved in the incident and a 23-year-old woman – understood to be the driver - has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
She remains in custody for questioning at this time.
The road remained closed during the early hours and remains closed.
Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the two cars driving in the Gorton area to get in touch to help their investigation.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have footage, including dashcam, mobile phone, CCTV or doorbell footage from the area in the moments before the collision took place.
Sergeant Andrew Page, of GMP's SCIU, said: “My thoughts are with all those affected by this devastating incident – particularly the family of the man who sadly lost his life, and we are doing all we can to support them at this awful time.
“We’re working to piece together the circumstances behind this incident and will be conducting a full and thorough investigation to ensure that no stone is left unturned to establish exactly what has happened here.
“While we have one woman in custody, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area in the early hours – or who may have footage from around that time that could end up being crucial to this investigation.”
