A man has been arrested after a shotgun was fired in Oldham.
Just before 6pm last Friday (July 8), officers were called to a report of the sound of shots fired on Broadbent Road in Watersheddings.
A man reportedly discharged twice into the driver’s window of a vehicle on the road before the man, and the victim who was later confirmed to be safe and well and not wanting to pursue a complaint, made off from the scene.
Yesterday (Tuesday), a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.
He remains in custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Kathryn Lester, from GMP’s Oldham district, said: “We’re aware this incident caused some concern in the community as a number of people reported to have heard the noise where a shotgun was suspected to have been used.
“Extensive enquiries have been on-going since the incident which is being treated as isolated and deliberate this time.
"Finding out exactly what happened and who was responsible has been our priority since it happened and this arrest is a huge step forward in getting those answers.
