Police and air ambulance close Abbey Hills Road after 'girl hit by car'

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed to the Chronicle that any injuries were thought not to be serious
Police and an air ambulance were called to Abbey Hills Road in Oldham yesterday evening (Tuesday) following reports of a young girl being hit by a car.
Abbey Hills Road was closed off between Warren Lane and Manor Road shortly after 6pm following the collision.
It is understood that a girl was struck by a vehicle close to a crossing, with police being called to the scene shortly after 6pm.
Greater Manchester Police has since confirmed to the Chronicle that any injuries were thought not to be serious.
Onlookers reported seeing the girl lying in the road, as people frantically tried to help.
A black Mercedes with a slightly dented bonnet was pictured within the cordon.
In the aftermath, an air ambulance reportedly landed on a grassed area behind terraced homes on Abbey Hills Road.
However, it is understood the victim was taken to hospital by road in an ambulance.
