Police appeal follows taxi and bus smash

Police investigators are appealing for information following a serious collision involving a taxi and a bus in Ashton.

At around 11:30pm yesterday (Sunday), police received a report of a collision on Henrietta Street and Albion Way.

Enquiries have established that the minibus, a Renault Transit and a Stagecoach double decker collided at the junction.

Neither the taxi or bus were carrying passengers.

The driver of the taxi - a 63-year-old man - was taken to hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.

The driver of the bus is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has dash cam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments before the collision.
