Oldham Volkswagen put their best foot forward for the community

Date published: 15 August 2022

Team members at Oldham Volkswagen walked over 100K on treadmills in the showroom to raise money in aid of local charity Reach Out to the Community.

Organised by Used Business Manager Nicola Woods and Digital Marketer Dylan Clarke, the challenge came from a desire to contribute to the local community whilst also bringing the team at Oldham Volkswagen together.

Selecting Reach Out to the Community as their charity of choice, the team members at Oldham Volkswagen got stuck into the challenge.

Reaching out to the community themselves, Nicola was able to organise help from the Gym Group in Oldham, who kindly supplied the treadmills, and PSP Meesons, who provided decoration for the showroom.

Reach Out to the Community are a charity that supports homeless people in Manchester.

Originally starting as a fruit and veg stall that donated food to a local homeless project, the charity has evolved, now consisting of a charity shop in Chorlton.

Every penny taken is used to support the charity, the shop is also home to a donation drop-off where the team sort through items to see what can be sold in the shop and what can be donated directly to people in need.

They also run a food bank, making up food parcels for individuals and families in need.

Members of the Oldham Volkswagen team have walked the equivalent of two marathons over the course of two days, and in the process have raised just over £1,000 with gift aid.

Nicola said: "It's been such a brilliant event, I can't say a big enough thank you to everyone who has been involved with setting up and taking part in it.

"It's been so lovely to see the whole of the Oldham Volkswagen team come together to raise money for such a brilliant cause.

"There are certainly some tired team members now, but it's all worth it."
