Wanted man found and due in court charged with numerous offences

A man with connections to Oldham, Tameside and Rochdale who was being sought by police has now been found and charged with a number of drug-related and other offences.

A post on the GMP Tameside North and East Facebook page read: "Gavin Phythian (aged 33) of no fixed abode, was charged yesterday (25/08/22) with the following offences:

1) Escaping from lawful custody (Prison) on 21/06/22.

2) Possession of Class 'A' drug (Diamorphine) with intent to supply on 25/08/22 in Ashton-under-Lyne.

3) Possession of Class 'A' drug (Crack Cocaine) with intent to supply on 25/08/22 in Ashton-under-Lyne.

4) Acquire/Possess/Use criminal property (Cash) on 25/08/22 in Ashton-under-Lyne.

"Phythian was remanded in custody after charge and will appear at Magistrates Court today (Friday).

"These charges follow the arrest of the subject yesterday morning by officers from the Tameside District Tasking Team after numerous enquiries and a previous media appeal."
