Seventeen members of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were involved in the rescue of a woman who had fallen and suffered a head injury descending Birchen Clough on the fringes of the Peak District National Park.
The team were responding to a request from the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
OMRT leader Rob Tortoiseshell said:”After an assessment by our casualty carers, and an extremely tricky extrication from the initial position on the narrow path, the stretcher was then attached to a rope system and hauled up on to Middle Edge Moss.
“From there, it was a short carry to the North West Air Ambulance helicopter, who had fortunately been able to land on the moor nearby.
"Thanks, and well done, to the casualty’s companions and to the passer-by for raising the alarm."
