Oldham shooting probe - man is arrested

Date published: 08 October 2022

Police have arrested a man in relation to a shooting in Oldham last month.

Detectives from Oldham – alongside specialist officers from Greater Manchester Police's Force Critical Wanted Unit – executed a warrant at an address in the Chadderton area.

A 23-year-old man was held on suspicion of firearms offences and was taken to custody - where he remains to also be questioned on suspicion of assault, burglary, and drugs offences.

The arrest follows over three weeks of meticulous enquiries by Oldham CID investigators and the Challenger team tackling organised crime in the town.

An investigation began after at least three shots were fired at a man on Belmont Street by three men wearing balaclavas late on the evening of September 19 - shortly after an earlier incident on Radcliffe Street where threats were made with a firearm.
