Laura's 'incredible, mad weekend' follows dream appearance on 'I can see your voice'

Locally-based wedding singer and musician Laura Mac - real name Laura Purdey - admitted her appearance on BBC star show 'I can see your voice' was one of the best experiences of her life!

Failsworth-based Laura, who has turned 40 now but has been singing since the age of 16, appeared on the hugely popular family game show on Saturday night, though sadly, although she reached the final two, she just missed out on the chance to sing a duet with star guest singer and dancer Becky Hill.

However, appearing on stage in front of judges - Becky, Jimmy Carr, Alison Hammond and Amanda Holden, along with host Paddy McGuinness - was an experience Laura will never forget.

She told the Chronicle: "It was just amazing, and since the show aired on Saturday it's just been an incredible, mad weekend.

"So many people have been in touch with me about it, commenting on how well I'd done.

"The reaction has been incredible.

"It was amazing to get down to the last two."

Incredibly, Laura has been forced to sit on news about her TV appearance for over a year since the 'I can see your voice' shows were filmed in London.

She added: "It's been such a hard secret to keep from everyone, but you're contracted to keeping it all to yourself until the show is finally aired.

"I had a fantastic few days in London.

"We had a session with a vocal coach from Britain's Got Talent which was amazing, then we had a day with choreographers.

"After that, we went back down to London for rehearsals and then filming the show - it's all been such a brilliant experience."

Perhaps not surprisingly, tickets (priced at just £10) for Laura's next local show next week are now selling like hot cakes.

Laura and the Sax will be performing 90s Dance hits, Ibiza classics and party hits at the Eight Bells in Failsworth on Saturday, November 12.
