Eager panto fans queue to book first for NEXT YEAR’S festive spectacular at the Coliseum

Date published: 14 November 2022

Eager pantomime fans queued outside Oldham Coliseum Theatre on Saturday morning to book the very first tickets for 2023-2024’s pantomime.

The opening day of pantomime at the Coliseum - this year it’s Robin Hood - is traditionally the day the theatre announces the pantomime for the following year, with a poster going up outside the Fairbottom Street building and tickets going on sale from 10am.

Those queuing outside the Coliseum were greeted by the theatre’s Artistic Director Chris Lawson, who brought them all a nice warm brew and a mince pie.

The 2023 pantomime goes on sale a year in advance, as is the theatre’s tradition, despite the Coliseum’s recent Arts Council England NPO funding cut.

Speaking earlier, Artistic Director Chris Lawson said: “We are determined to continue delivering our programme of shows, learning and opportunities as much as possible and we are surveying the options available to us.

"Our sincere thanks go to our peers, artists that we have worked with from across the UK and further afield and our amazing audiences for their very vocal support.

"Rest assured that we’ll do everything we can to help the Coliseum thrive even under the most difficult of circumstances.

"Our annual pantomime is the highlight of the year for so many of our audiences.

"Come and spend a few hours with us this festive season and celebrate the Coliseum’s phenomenal contribution to Oldham and the wider theatre ecology.”

Set your alarm for Christmas 2023 as Sleeping Beauty gets the Coliseum treatment.

Sleeping Beauty will run from Saturday, November 11, 2023 - Saturday, January 6, 2024.
