Dronsfields, a Royton-based firm, has claimed top honours in the inaugural Vehicle Recycling Excellence Awards.

The glittering event, held at the National Motor Cycle Museum in Birmingham, celebrated a wide range of innovative thinking and action.

It included excellence in management, training, performance in business outcomes from a single investment in a new machine, to the performance of the whole company.

Dronsfields scooped up the Specialist ATF (Authorised treatment facility), Outstanding Achievement Company award (midsized) and Mid-sized Vehicle Recycler award.

Melvyn Dronsfield, who started in a local garage when he was 14, launched the business more than 40 years ago, selling and buying trucks and selling parts from all makes.

This evolved into a concentration of Mercedes for truck, van and cars.

Now the company, employing more than 40 people, are experts in Mercedes products and dismantle and repair anything from a small passenger car through to heavy truck and tractor units.

They  provide ‘end of life’ vehicle solutions for any business or fleet operator, with strong environmental policies.

Over recent years they have carefully chosen waste operators and business partners, ensuring material deemed waste is reused - with nothing going to landfill.

Dronsfields say they are extremely proud of what they achieved on the night, but the titles are a great recognition to all their staff.
