A 14-strong squad from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team turned out after a dog walker injured his knee at Denshaw.
The incident happened at lunchtime on Wednesday when the team had received a call from North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust asking for assistance with the location, treatment and evacuation of a male who had slipped on a grass slope at Dowry Reservoir, leaving him unable to walk.
After a short search, the casualty's exact location was soon established and the team got a Casualty Carer and NWAS Paramedic to assess and treat his injury.
The team applied a splint to stabilise his leg before packaging him in their extra warm winter casualty bag onto a stretcher for the 1km carry to the road.
He was then kept warm in the team’s control vehicle until the arrival and transfer to the NWAS ambulance.
OMRT leader Rob Tortoiseshell said: “We wish the casualty all the best for a speedy recovery.”
OMRT personnel were involved for one hour and 40 minutes.
