The gleaming trophies at Saddleworth Amateur Swimming Club's (SASC) Championship Gala presentation took on an extra shine last weekend.
Because community champions, Saddleworth Round Table, donated £480 to buy the club much-needed new trophies and shields.
These included two new cups, named the Saddleworth Round Table Cup, which will be presented annually to two outstanding swimmers.
Chair and a former swimmer at the club, John Arthurs, presented the Saddleworth Round Table Cup to the first recipients, Amy Jakeman and Millie Foster, who have gone above and beyond helping out at the club, in addition to their swimming activities.
John said: “The club approached us for a donation towards new medals and trophies.
"It was great to see such a healthy club with many enthusiastic young people.
“I was a member of the club myself growing up and have some great memories from my time involved.
"It’s nice to see it’s having a great impression still on so many young people.”
