Former Oldhamer John M Flanagan has been short-listed for the prestigious 2023 Robert Burns Humanitarian Award for his charity work in the Philippines since 2010.
The globally-recognised award attracted nominations from across the world, and John is humbled to find himself in the final three nominees.
The winner will be announced on January 25.
John was previously awarded an Honorary Fellowship at Leeds Trinity University in July 2022 for his humanitarian efforts.
He receives no sponsorship or funding for his solo project in the Philippines, where he helps individuals, families, communities, the poor and the infirm.
Last year, John said proudly: "I work alone with no funding or sponsorship, so you can imagine the difficulties I've faced.
"However, I have also helped with other food programmes and another local organisation."
