Gutsy octogenarian Tony prepares to fly high again for veterans' charity

Date published: 16 January 2023

Brave Tony Milligan from Oldham has vowed to take to the skies again, all in aid of a veterans' charity.

Tony, who is in his 80s, is a member of the Royal Artillery Association.

He will be doing a tandem skydive for a veterans' charity called Outpost on April 8 this year.

Tony said: "I'm hoping to raise £2,000 to help with their sterling work helping ex-servicemen and women.

"I'm looking to raise sponsorship and hope as many people as possible can help.

"I'll be 81 when I do it so I'm unable to run marathons nor walk from Lands End to John 'O Groats.

"I can, however, still obey the law of gravity, having been a student skydiver in my younger days.

"I'm really looking forward to jumping again."

The Outpost charity aims to provide relief from suffering and hardship for men or women who are, or have at any time, served with any branch of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force (Regular or Reserve), Merchant Navy (in conflict), and their families, who are in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage, with the object of improving the conditions of life.
