The St Matthew's Primary School children and their amazing Forever Angels charity journey

Date published: 10 March 2023

The warm-hearted children of St Matthew's Primary School in Chadderton have been on quite a journey supporting the Forever Angels charity in Tanzania.

The charity cares for Tanzania's most vulnerable, orphaned and abandoned babies, helping to place them in family style homes.

The children were thanked for their support when they were visited this week by Amy Hathaway MBE, the founder and director of Forever Angels.

The very special event was timed to coincide with International Women’s Day, March 8.

Jacqui Madden organised Amy's visit.

She told the Chronicle: "As an ex-teacher at St Matthew's, volunteer and trustee of the charity, I have had the pleasure of introducing the work of Forever Angels to the children and they have learnt a lot about the differences of life and culture in a developing country, as well as learning about the work of Forever Angels.

"My regular visits to school, sharing updates on the charity, details of the children they are sponsoring and their involvement with my last trip to Tanzania, have been a joy.

"The children have demonstrated such empathy and care and always want to undertake challenges to raise money.

"They never cease to amaze me with their questioning, their interest, their keenness to make a difference and of course their incredible kindness.

"They have raised some incredible amounts of money for Forever Angels and continue to undertake fundraising.

"The children love their partnership with the charity and getting messages from the staff and children there."

Amy added: "It was wonderful to meet the children and staff who have worked so hard to fundraise for Forever Angels over the last few years.

"It means such a lot to see how passionate St Matthew's is about our work - it truly is a special partnership."
