Tee-rrific golf day planned for Maggie's

Date published: 08 March 2023

Cancer support charity Maggie's are holding their annual Golf Day at Saddleworth Golf Club in April.

Maggie’s Oldham opened in the grounds of The Royal Oldham Hospital in 2017 and each year 10,000 people visit the centre for support.

Maggie’s professional staff include psychologists, cancer support specialists and benefits advisors and is funded by voluntary donations.

This is the charity's fourth annual golf event which raises money for the support of the Maggie's center in Oldham.

On the day teams can expect to enjoy bacon butties and a brew on arrival at 11.30am, followed by a shotgun start at 1pm and 18 holes of golf on the stunning Saddleworth course.

There are refreshments and competitions on course and a one course meal back at the clubhouse after the round has finished.

There are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams and for all competition winners.

Laura Tomlinson, Centre Fundraising Manager at Maggie’s Oldham, said: “Last year’s Golf Day was amazing – our best yet! 19 teams joined us on the day, and we raised £10,000 for Maggie’s, compared to £3000 the year before. We were complete blown away by everyone’s generosity.

"This year we want to go even bigger and better and would love to get more teams out on the course for Maggie’s! Everyone is welcome and we’d be so delighted if you’d like to join us for what we promise will be a brilliant and fun day for you and your team.

"We want to take this opportunity to thank our headline sponsors R Lambert Transport Ltd. Thanks to their generosity, every penny that we raise on the day will go towards helping us to support people with cancer and their loved ones when they need us most.”

The competition is for 4 ball teams and entry is £220 per team. To book your team, call 0161 989 0550 or email oldhamfundraising@maggies.org
