The high-flying Oldham Mountain Rescue Team now have both the skills and resources to deploy locally or further afield in support of other teams
Oldham Mountain Rescue Team’s Swift Water Rescue Section spent the weekend in dramatic style honing their skills and recertifying as Mod3 Swift Water Rescue Technicians.
The rescue team set up a Flood/Swift water rescue section in the wake of the Christmas 2015 flooding in Littleborough and Salford.
And with the help of public donations and DEFRA grants, they now have both the skills and resources to deploy locally or further afield in support of other teams.
Said an OMRT spokesperson: “Training and equipment for this work doesn’t come cheap, so we’re grateful for all the support we receive.
"Our technicians worked closely together on boat rescue techniques, throw-line deployment, river crossings, anchors, knots and contact rescues.
“They worked in tough water conditions synonymous with flooding, and all recertified with flying colours.
"Thanks to Amanzi Safety and Rescue for their guidance and support.”
