GO Play! - the perfect family friendly exhibition comes to Gallery Oldham and Oldham Library this summer

Date published: 25 April 2023

Oldham Council is inviting you to go along and enjoy its first exhibition that has been designed and created entirely by children.

GO Play! is a hands-on experience for families with children under five years old.

You can explore how Gallery Oldham's collection has inspired Oldham's Early Years programmes over the past 10 years.

In this show you will see a mixture of artwork and pieces from Gallery Oldham's art collection, as well as exhibits created by families during special GO Play! sessions at Gallery Oldham and libraries across the borough

From painted canvases to ceramic trees, staff have worked with hundreds of families over the past year to showcase the amazing and playful ways of creating art with children.

Parent Hannah Geary said: "We've loved taking part in these sessions and really getting head to toe messy!

“Norah can't wait to see which of her artworks are in the exhibition.”

GO! Play runs from May 20 to September 9 and as well as enjoying the display visitors – including the adults – will be able to take part in a range of activities that explore the importance of play.

A number of special sessions have also been arranged as part of the exhibition:

Join a tour with a difference - this one is designed especially for under fives

GO Play! Summer Sessions - Every Tuesday in August, 10.30am - 12noon
