Oldham's Fox and Pine is the new Greater Manchester Pub of the Year

Consumer giants the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) have announced that the Fox and Pine on Greaves Street in Oldham town centre is this year's Greater Manchester Pub of the Year.
The 16 regional finalists will now have a chance to compete for the National Pub of the Year crown, the highest accolade afforded to Britain’s pubs.
Pubs in the competition are judged on their atmosphere, decor, welcome, service, inclusivity, overall impression, but most importantly – the quality of live beer, real cider and perry.
John Duffin, Rochdale, Oldham and Bury CAMRA's Branch Secretary, told the Chronicle: "I’m delighted for Chris, Michelle and the team on their victory in what is usually an extremely close vote.
"Winning the ROB Pub of the Year is difficult enough.
"Personally I have participated in local and regional judging for several years and know the competition they are up against.
"It is testament to Chris and Michelle’s hard work and experience to be judged the best pub in Greater Manchester."
On the Fox and Pine's Facebook page, they describe themselves as: "Real Ale and Cider specialists in Oldham’s independent quarter."
Proud landlord Chris Riley said: "It’s a great honour.
"Michelle and I are delighted to be recognised for our hard work.
"But it’s not just us. We’ve great staff and a lovely customer base.
"To be recognised in such high esteem and win against some long standing ale pub stalwarts is awesome.
"We’re passionate about Oldham and hopefully this will bring some much-needed footfall into the town centre."

Founded by four real ale enthusiasts back in 1971, today CAMRA represents beer drinkers and pub-goers across the UK.
