Latics fans team up for 'My Town, My Shirt' diversity initiative

Date published: 16 September 2023

Oldham Athletic Supporters Foundation have teamed up with Oldham Camera Club on a project that aims to highlight the diverse community that makes up the 'Latics Family'.

'My Town, My Shirt' will feature Latics supporters wearing their shirts with pride, at locations of their choosing around the town.

OASF Board Member Mick Harwood said: "We know that our fanbase, and indeed our community, is made up of supporters from all sorts of backgrounds.

"That is a beautiful thing that needs celebrating."

Photographers from Oldham Camera Club will take photographs of supporters in a place in Oldham that means something to them - including Boundary Park of course.

A short explanation of their reason for that choice will be displayed with the photograph.

Mick added: "You don't have to have the latest shirt, any era is absolutely fine, because, as well as wishing to involve supporters from as diverse a group as possible, we are also acutely aware of fans whose barriers to supporting the club are financial ones."

Oldham Camera Club spokesperson Phil Livesey has explained that they are delighted to be involved and have an opportunity to contribute to such a worthwhile project.

Oldham Camera Club has a long history of supporting local organisations with projects that benefit the local community and Oldham in general.

It also helps promote the club's photography skills to the wider public and ultimately encourages new members to join them.

Along with Oldham Athletic Supporters Foundation, the project is supported by Oldham Athletic Disabled, Inclusion and Diversity Supporters Group, and the club's Her Game Too Supporters group.
