BLAST is a new concept in wellbeing
Oldham Active is hosting free open days complete with energising smoothies and goodie bags to take away, to celebrate the launch of its brand new, unique group training concept and experience, ‘BLAST’.
Created by Oldham Active’s Group Health and Fitness Brand Manager, Lauren Connis, and her team, the high intensity training concept will use specialist curved treadmills and skill mills from leading gym equipment supplier, TechnoGym, alongside SKI ergs, which replicate Nordic ski function movements, rowers, free-weights and other pieces of functional training kit, to offer 30 or 45-minute fast-paced workouts.
Lauren said: “BLAST is a new concept in wellbeing - a totally unique and bespoke functional experience, which you won’t find at other gyms.
"It is designed to give our customers an energising and engaging fast-paced workout that will optimise strength, endurance, flexibility, coordination and speed.”
To celebrate its launch, Oldham Active is hosting a series of free BLAST taster sessions:
Saturday, January 27 between 10:30am - 12pm at Royton Leisure Centre
Monday, January 29 between 5.30pm – 7pm at Failsworth Sports Centre
Lauren added: “There is no need to book for our launch events, simply turn up between the times to try it out.
"The free launch events will include a 15-minute taster session to give you feel for the class, smoothies to keep you energised and a goodie bag to take home.
"Come along and speak to our expert instructors, who will be able to show you how the equipment and training works. Everyone is welcome.”
Oldham Active’s BLAST will be timetabled at the newly refurbished gyms at Failsworth Sports Centre, Oldham Leisure Centre and Royton Leisure Centre, where a dedicated BLAST area has been created.
All of Oldham Active’s fitness instructors are fully qualified to deliver this class, with all the instructors recently taking a qualification in delivering fitness to adolescents too.
Lauren said: “We will be offering a full programme of BLAST classes early in the morning, at lunch times and at peak times during the evening, as well as a separate programme specifically for young people, as we understand that some teenagers are keen to workout with their peers.
“We are passionate about providing our community with the best equipment, instructors and space to help them to get the most out of their workouts.
"BLAST is fantastic because although you are working out in a group, you can push yourself to your own limitations, making the class inclusive for all.”
