RVS Luncheon Club celebrate Easter by crafting some more memories

Date published: 30 March 2024

The Royal Voluntary Services (RVS) Broadbent Luncheon Club have been celebrating Easter this weekend by holding their annual Easter craft competition.

The Luncheon Club, based on the playing fields at the top of Lord Lane in Failsworth, is open every Monday and Wednesday mornings, supporting the elderly in the community by providing a safe and warm environment to have a drink and a chat and, maybe have a go at a craft like painting or knitting.

The staff hold regular, seasonal, events and for this year's Easter event all the members were given a polystyrene egg to decorate at home and bring in for judging.

Twenty-three eggs arrived on the day and the standard was incredible high, which made judging them extremely difficult.

Eventually it was decided that there would be four winners.

Well done to Margaret, Brenda, Darryl and Jean, and to everyone else for taking part.

If you know anyone that would like to join the warm and happy community spirit of the RVS Broadbent Luncheon Club, please come along to the next open day on Wednesday, April 17 between 10am and 12 noon to find out more and have a cuppa and a chat.
