Parents have learnt lots of new skills which they are applying in their own gardens too
Staff and parents at the Burnley Brow Community School in Chadderton have been running a community gardening project over the past two years, alongside Jigsaw Housing.
The parents have worked with a experienced gardener to learn how to plant, look after and harvest vegetables.
The parents have learnt lots of new skills which they are applying in their own gardens too.
They celebrated with a garden party using some of the vegetables that they have grown.
Lots of the parents commented that it was a fantastic opportunity and it helped them to make new friends, build their confidence and improved their mental health.
Headteacher of Burnley Brow Community School Mrs Atkinson-Smith said: “It was a joy to share the celebration and taste the wonderful food our talented mums brought to the party."
They are now going to work with Fenhurst Allotment Association and hoping to grow vegetables that they can enter into competitions.
