Oldham Post Office re-opens at town centre shopping centre

Date published: 17 June 2025

Oldham Post Office has opened today (Wednesday) at Unit 10, Town Square Shopping Centre, Oldham, OL1 1XD.

This has restored Post Office services to Oldham town centre in the former Clinton Cards shop.

It is a temporary solution whilst Post Office chiefs work towards a permanent solution at the same location.

Oldham Post Office had been inside the WHSmith store, which closed on May 5.

To restore service as soon as possible the postmaster for Bury will operate this temporary branch.

There is stationery retail also alongside the branch.

The opening hours for this interim solution are Monday to Friday: 9am-5.30pm.

The new location is approximately 50 metres from the previous branch, which was at 2 Town Square Shopping Centre, Oldham, OL1 1XF.

Post Office Area Change Manager, David Hunt, said: "We are delighted that we have been able to open a temporary branch in Oldham town centre whilst we continue to work towards a permanent solution.

"We want to thank the postmaster for Oldham for providing this interim solution as we know how important a Post Office is to a community.”

The branch will offers similar services as before, however excluding comprehensive range of Travel Money, Passport Check & Send, Vehicle Tax, and On Demand Travel Insurance.

These services will be added when a permanent branch opens at a future date.

Customers can click here to find details of the nearest branch is that offers these services that are currently unavailable.
