The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) awarded the College over £400,000 in funding, which, alongside the College’s own contributions, has allowed for the expansion of the College’s automotive facility.

These updates included the removal of an unused polytunnel and the creation of a new dedicated modular building in its place.

The expansion supports the delivery of industry-ready training in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as further integration of modern green technologies and sustainability within the curriculum.

The College has additionally secured over £900,000 in grant funding, which has been used to update and reconfigure its plumbing provision.

This investment has enabled the development of further high-specification plumbing workshops and allowed space to be utilised for brand-new electrical training bays.

These changes have increased capacity to train more learners in these high-demand areas, creating further opportunities for aspiring Construction professionals to launch their careers in Oldham.

Additionally, University Campus Oldham (UCO), the College’s higher education provision, has also benefited from substantial updates.

UCO is now based across two sites: at its existing town centre location on University Way, and within the Oldham College campus on Rochdale Road.

Both locations have undergone renovation and refurbishment to improve classroom and communal spaces, kitted out with brand-new equipment to help students reach their full potential.

Simon Jordan, Principal and CEO of Oldham College, said:

“I am delighted with the recent upgrades to the Oldham College estate.

“New and improved spaces at Oldham College will provide capacity for increased student numbers in our high-demand plumbing, electrical and automotive areas, equipping more students with the skills required to embark on rewarding careers in these evolving sectors.

“These developments also mark the beginning of an exciting new era for University Campus Oldham. While these refurbishments will enhance the overall student experience, spreading the provision across our two campuses will also strengthen the visibility of the progression route to Oldham College students – showcasing our brilliant higher education offer and the rewarding careers it can lead to.

“These significant investments in both Oldham College and University Campus Oldham demonstrate our commitment to providing modern, industry-standard facilities that support future growth.”
