A vibrant village band club has hit the high notes again by winning the prestigious Greater Manchester CAMRA Club of the Year award.
Dobcross Band and Social Club, a key part of the community for years, scooped up the major accolade this week to the delight of the clubs committee, staff and members.
Terry Lawless, the club’s proud chairman, said: “What a year it’s been for Band Club steward Adele Taylor.
“Appointed just a couple of weeks before last year’s Whit Friday band contest and she has hit the ground running.
“She continues to be a massive asset to the club and to underline her positive impact, we’re proud to announce Dobcross Band and Social Club has once again been named the CAMRA Greater Manchester Club of the Year.
“This award not only recognises the club’s commitment, but also its contribution to the local community.
“This is the fourth year running that the Band Club has reached the last 16 nationwide and now goes on to compete for the coveted CAMRA National Club of the Year.
“The final four will be announced at a gala dinner in November, hosted by broadcaster John Inverdale.”
