A Saddleworth village is to become a fairy wonderland in the latest Trojan efforts by dedicated fundraising members of Friends of Dobcross School.

Their unique Fairy Garden Trail returns next Monday (August 18) until Sunday, August 31 with a theme featuring tradition nursery rhymes.

FODS are partnering with the Big Tiny productions who are staging this year’s Millgate Christmas pantomime, Hansel and Gretel.

Dobcross community will be transformed and the village will become an enchanted fairy wonderland where visitors  will be encouraged to follow a special map to find and name all the fabulous nursery rhyme themed displays.

Said a  FODS spokesperson: “We want to encourage outdoor enjoyment with this fun, low-cost activity for all the family, so come and join in the fun and see everything Dobcross has to offer!”

The Fairy Garden Trail made a fantastic debut in 2024 and FODS say they hope the four tickets for the Millgate Christmas panto, donated by Big Tiny as a prize, will underpin interest in anyone who manages to guess all the correct nursery themes this year.

Fairy Trail maps, costing just £3 each, will be available from Dobcross Village Store, the Lime Kiln Cafe, the Swan, and Dobcross Band Club.

You can buy maps on the day or in advance via Ticket Source before collection from one of the sellers.

Last year’s event was a great success and raised £419 which was used to fund enrichment projects and much-needed IT equipment for the children at Holy Trinity Dobcross school.
